No need to wait for Black Friday if you’re shopping for a new budget gaming laptop. Right now, I’ve spotted this HP Victus 15 with RTX 4050 at Best Buy for $649.99 ($899.99).

The HP Victus 15 is a staple in HP’s gaming line that refreshes every so often with more modern processors and graphics cards. Throughout the years, it’s kept a reputation as a sturdy gaming laptop for folks who don’t want to drop $1,000 on a portable PC but still need solid entry-level performance for undemanding games.

We didn’t review this exact HP Victus, but we did review one with the same GPU. In our HP Victus 15 review, we praised the gaming performance and professional aesthetic that works well for doubling as a work laptop.

This Victus 15 forgoes the latest hardware for more modest specs, including an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, RTX 4050 graphics card, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. You probably can’t run Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings, but it’s plenty for playing PC games at 1080p and browsing the web for work. In fact, the 144Hz refresh rate is reasonable for even fast-paced games like Fortnite and Valorant.
