Finding a travel power bank that’s capacious enough to charge all your devices while also remaining safe to bring in your carry-on luggage isn’t always easy, which is why Anker’s new Prime Power Bank (26K, 300W) might be of interest. Although it was announced at the beginning of September, it’s just become available to buy.
When the device was first revealed, its price was unknown. Now that it can be bought from Anker’s website, we now know that it’s been priced at $229.99. For the next six days, though, the price has been cut to $184 – a drop of 20% – thanks to an auto-applied coupon code. That means. it’s a good time to pick one up, especially if you’re planning on traveling soon and need something to keep your devices charged up while you’re on the road or in the air.
It’s not the only Anker power bank that has just become available. The Anker Prime Charger (160W, 3 Ports, Smart Display) has also gone on sale, and it offers three USB-C ports that can each output up to 140W (although the power bank’s total output is limited to 210W). This charger is normally priced at $149.99, but like the Prime Power Bank, it’s also received a 20% discount, bringing its price down to $120.
An airline-friendly option
Crucially, the Prime Power Bank falls within the TSA’s limit that power banks must adhere to in order to be allowed in your carry-on luggage. That threshold sits at 100 watt-hours, and with the Prime Power Bank clocking in at 99.75 watt-hours at 3.8V, it just passes the bar.
It packs in a 26,250mAh battery and a total power output of 300W. That’s enough to juice up a pair of 16-inch MacBook Pros using the two USB-C ports and still have 20W left over for a smartphone to be powered through the device’s USB-A slot.
And there’s an interesting extra: both of the USB-C ports are bidirectional. That means that if they’re both connected to a pair of 140W USB-C PD 3.1 chargers, Anker’s power bank can be charged at up to 250W. When that happens, you can get it from empty to 80% power in about 35 minutes, according to Anker. To top it off, there’s also a screen on the power bank that lets you monitor power input and output.
So, if you’re in the market for a beefy power bank that won’t upset airport security, Anker’s latest products are worth a look. They could be just what you need to keep your devices powered up when you’re on the move.
